Dr. Vasantrao Pawar has been the founder of the Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj's Medical College with MBBS and Post Graduate Courses (Degree & Diploma) and a hospital of 750 beds with the latest medical equipments, College of Physiotherapy, College of Pharmacy, Institute of Nursing Education, Training College of Nursing, College of Architecture, College of Fine Arts, Management Institute, College of Agriculture, College of Social Work and Law College in Nashik District (Maharashtra State).

Closely associated with Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj, Nashik one of the foremost educational institutes in Maharashtra, since 1981 - contributed significantly to its development and progress.

Vice-Chairman (Upsabhapati) of the Institute (198] -84), Secretary (Sarchitanis) of the Institute during the periods, 1984 to 1997, and 2002 to-date.

Founding and promotion of chiefly educational, vocational and professional degree courses in the Institute.

Successful execution and implementation of unique programmes such as Welfare Schemes for Employees, Students Welfare Scheme, Students Insurance Scheme, Competitive Examinations, Reading Culture, Water Literacy etc.

Skilful Organization of various cultural programmes - The historical drama, 'Janta Raja' was staged thrice during the Golden Jubilee Year of the Institute (199 I. I 9942002)

Senate member of the Pune University, Executive Council! Management Council (1984 to 1992 and 1996 to 2000) - Long term service in high power committees such as Medical Advisory Committee - member of Academic Council (2000-05). At present, member of the Senate (from 2005), Chairman, Standing Committee, Pune University.
